the laundry list: April 2008
there's a bunch of events coming up on the Southside...hope to see you!

Monday, April 21: City Earth Day Celebration
The city of Bethlehem is hosting Earth Day 2008 on Monday, April 21, from 3 pm-7 pm at the Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink. Mayor Callahan will host an Opening Ceremony at 4 pm and give a presentation on what the City is doing to be good stewards of the environment. Stop by to check it out.

Tuesday, April 22: Earth Day & Election Day!
The BIG day! Go vote on Tuesday, then stop by Clothesline to pick up some eco-fashions for spring. Come in with your 'I-voted' sticker and get 10% off anything red, white, or blue!
Need to find your polling place? Call us or check out https://www.pavoterservices.state.pa.us/Pages/PollingPlaceInfo.aspx.

Saturday, April 26: Chili Taste-Off--Spring on Fourth! What's on Third?
The annual Spring on Fourth! What's on Third? festival is always a hit, and a great way to welcome spring. Entertainment runs from noon to 4, and includes musicians (Steve Brosky & Jimmy Meyer, Billy Beyer, Dr. Swing, Cassie's Jazz, and more), clowns, dancing, and a skating demonstration by Homebase Skateshop. Bring your pet for a special pet photography session! And, of course, the 10th annual chili taste-off runs from noon-2 pm. Taste the scores of chilis and vote for your favorite!

Friday, May 2: Cinco De Mayo Celebration at First Friday
The Southside is celebrating Cinco De Mayo for May's First Friday. The South Mountain Mariachis will perform from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the 3rd Street parking lot--there will be dancing! And stop by all of your favorite shops for refreshments and specials.

More Earth Day events are available in the Alliance for Sustainable Communities' 2008 Earth Days Calendar, available at no cost at Clothesline.

And while you're here, check out two brand new collections that have arrived!
There's Loyale, which designer Jenny says is "inspired by understated sophistication, alluring fit and sustainable fabrics for the fashionably conscious set." And Under the Canopy offers pieces from women's fashion pieces to basic tees to a super pair of house slippers.

Hope to see you!

Kim Schaffer and Josh Bushey
