Edun and Blue Canoe are here
While it's *almost* starting to feel like spring outside, spring has definitely arrived in the shop! In the last week, we've had two new arrivals: First, Edun is here, with its modern take on classic tees and jeans for men and women. If you think the line sounds familiar, it probably does: the line was started by Ali Hewson and U2 frontman Bono, and has got a ton of terrific press since its launch. A spring shipment of Blue Canoe has also arrived, which means we're well stocked on undies, bras, and a great selection of their street wear, including a few really super casual dresses. Other lines, including more Stewart+Brown and at least one new brand, have shipped and will be here within days... stop by and get what you like while it's still here!
it's not too late to get your Peeps artwork in!
Have you been by the southside shops yet to check out the fantastic Peeps sculptures? There are some really amazing ones that you have to see to believe. It's not too late to turn in your Peeps art--and you can be as creative as you like. A sculpture, diorama, collage...the Peeps are the limit! And even if you're not creating something this year, make sure you come by this month to see the art.
april events ahead
April's First Friday is April 4, and there's a lot going on. The Peeps art will be judged and prized awarded, Lehigh's Glee Club will perform, and in our store, we'll have election-related fun. Everything runs from 7 to 10 pm on the southside. While you have your pen out, make sure to mark off April 26 as well--Bethlehem's Spring on 4th festival returns. That's the famous southside chili fest, and there will be more details to come.
quality, not quantity
If you have a minute, I highly recommend the following BBC article: What is the true cost of our obsession with cheap fashion? Annie Kelly reveals how high street retailers are able to sell their clothes at rock bottom prices. The stories are incredible. And be assured that all of the brands we carry at Clothesline are sweatshop-free or fair trade, so you know that people were paid fair wages for their work.
would you vote for us?
A reminder: Lehigh Valley Magazine is holding its 2008 Best of the Valley Readers' Poll, and there are categories for Best Women's Boutique, Best Men's Clothing, and Best Kids' Clothing. We'd be honored to have your vote in any or all of those categories! Voting is in the current issue of the magazine, or at www.lehighvalleymagazine.com. You're asked to fill in 30 votes, so you'll also have the chance to vote for your other southside and independent favorites. THANKS!
calling all crafters
Our neighbor, Comfort & Joy, is on a mission to find local crafters to represent in their store. They are looking for handmade work that fits the design aesthetic of the shop. Anything is welcome, big or small, furniture, textiles, papergoods, baby goods, jewelry…you name it! Interested? Email Inger, smoxee@msn.com, or call the shop: 610.867.9916. Please forward this to your friends!
Happy Spring! Whether you need new basics, a special gift, or something to spice up your spring wardrobe, we hope you'll stop in to see us this week. Thanks as always for your support!
