the laundry list: what's new at Clothesline Organics

Happy new year!
Here's hoping you and your family had a great holiday season. Many thanks to all of you who stopped by to see us this holiday season.

FREE basics!
If the new year means it's time to update your wardrobe basics, we hope you'll think of us. And here's an incentive: For the rest of January, spend $90 or more on regularly priced merchandise and get your choice FREE: ONE pair of underwear; OR ONE cami; OR TWO pairs of maggie's socks. A $15-20 value! Just mention this email; one per customer.

sale on sweaters
In addition, we're still running our post-holiday sale: 50% off select women's sweaters, and 15% off all the rest. All men's and kids' sweaters and our remaining hats and scarves are 40% off. Everything's moving quickly, so stop by soon!

clotheslineorganics.com is here!
We are so excited about our new website, clotheslineorganics.com. We hope that it will grow to be a resource for our newest products, events on the southside, and, as soon as this spring, a way for you to shop without leaving home.

We've been working with one of our favorite customers to create the site, and we've had a really great experience. His name is Brian Schachter, and if you need to build or update a site we highly recommend him. He's at thewebdesignshack.com.

get your veggies here
Once again in 2008, we're so pleased to be a drop-off location for CSA (community-supported agriculture) shares for two local farms, Quiet Creek and Seasons' Harvest. Here's how it works: sign up for a full or partial share, and pay the farmers before the season starts. Then each week, stop by the store to pick up your (huge) box of whatever is fresh-picked that week! Quiet Creek is taking reservations now from people who had a share last year, and Seasons' Harvest is accepting new shares for 2008. You can sign up at seasonsharvestfarm.com. A great way to support local farmers and get the freshest and best-tasting food around!

think INDEPENDENT in 2008
Everywhere we went over the holiday season, we heard people talking about the op-ed piece Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan wrote on the benefits of buying locally.

In 2008, the Sustainable Business Network of the Lehigh Valley will be rolling out a targeted campaign designed to get people to think first about buying from locally owned, independent businesses. We're REALLY excited about the campaign. We can't say too much about it yet, but if you have a locally owned business, we'd love for you to join in. It's going to be a great opportunity to begin to change the conversation in the Lehigh Valley about where we spend our dollars, and we're looking to include all types of independent businesses: restaurants, shops, service providers and more. If you or someone you know might be interested, please contact us at 610.691.0111 or kim@clotheslineorganics.com and we'll send you details.

Pennsylvania's primary is coming up on April 22, and you have to have declared a party affiliation to be able to vote that day. If you live anywhere in the state and need to register to vote or want to change your party, stop by. We have registration cards, and we'll even stamp yours and mail it off. Easy, huh? Further, if you're interested in volunteering for any of the campaigns, stop by and Josh will help get you connected.

february
Looking ahead to February: First Friday is February 1, and we'll have something good going on...stop by to check out all the shops on the southside from 7-10 pm.

Then, Josh and I haven't had a vacation together in the past several years, so we're going to close up for a few days early in February--the 4th through the 8th. Let us know if there's anything we can do for you before we head off! And in the meantime, don't forget to stop by for a January wardrobe update and FREE basics.
