Growing cotton organically is important because cotton is typically one of the most heavily sprayed crops there is. In fact, each tshirt made with conventional cotton uses one-third of a pound of synthetic fertilizers pesticides—add up all of your shirts, and that’s a lot of dangerous chemicals!

Fewer chemicals and pesticides means healthier working and living conditions for farmers and neighbors, less runoff in our water sources, and healthier, more fertile soils. Growing cotton organically also helps to keep pesticides out of our food supply, since cottonseed oil is used in many food products, and cottonseed is fed to livestock.
